Let the weekend begin! So last night we overcame the near-defeat of Florida strominess and officially kicked off the Nerdapalooza weekend! It was easily the biggest and best crowd we ever played to, I would say at least 70? Maybe like 100-something? This time we got some hand-held footage of us (which I have not had the pleasure of watching just yet) so that will be an exciting change up from me just sticking the camcorder on a tripod. Thanks to everyone that ended up making it out last night! I was really surprised at how many people came. It was great to see so many cool people I got the pleasure of meeting last year, as well as meeting so many more. But now the real event starts, and we have to get downtown. Again, if you aren't already super-obligated to anything else, you really should check out Nerdapalooza! The price went down! $20 for the coolest weekend ever? Yeah, it's a good deal. :P Current Mood: geeky | | Friday, July 10th, 2009 | | 3:26 pm |
4.5 hours!
Until we perform! Get over to A Comic Shop before 8pm! Also, rain: Either start pouring now and get it over with, or get the hell out of here. :( HAHAHA - it literally started pouring, after hours of intense thundering, the SECOND I typed that. I am some sort of magical beast! WOO! Current Mood: cheerful | | Thursday, July 9th, 2009 | | 4:07 pm |

MagiTek Performance:
Here is the first track from our performance earlier today, as well as a link to the additional 6 tracks we played: http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=0645E4602BA0715DPlease forgive the CD skipping during "Gold Teef." I figured Quartz was able to recover strongly enough that the positives far outweigh that small negative there, so I didn't want to deprive you of an entire track. I also humbly suggest you check out our closing track, 16-Bit Wizardry, if nothing else, since it it pretty rad. Current Mood: cheerful | | Sunday, July 5th, 2009 | | 12:32 pm |
TODAY: http://www.myspace.com/magitekonlineWe will be performing our first show since the release of our new EP, "Odd Entities" (available for download at the MySpace link above), this afternoon/evening in downtown Orlando. Tickets are $10 at the door. Doors are at 4:30. Hope to see some of you out there! Current Mood: hopeful | | Monday, June 8th, 2009 | | 12:20 pm |
From the top: In case you missed it.Hundreds of friends throughout various social networks, and so far I have heard literally only one word in response to this. Sort of speaks volumes to the completely disconnected nature of the internet, doesn't it. And people wonder why I don't post here any more. A momentous occasion for us: MagiTek - Odd Entities EP DOWNLOAD HERE! http://3rr0n30.us/MagiTek/MagiTek%20-%20Odd%20Entities.zip(Zip contains 320 kbps mp3s, production notes, lyrics and album art) (Mirror links coming soon) Odd Entities brings forth 6 new and 3 previously released (but now updated) tracks. MagiTek maintains its roots, but develops and fuses new styles into the mix. This transition came from more of a hip hop influence, as well as performing live and becoming a 4 person group. This EP contains a variety of sounds, from what one could call "breakbeat industrial", to "crunky", to something just....strange. Overall, we feel it's a nice step forward, with much more to come. Hope you enjoy the dimensional rhythm. Thanks are in order for Chris, J and Shane, for all your hard work. Current Mood: accomplished | | Saturday, April 4th, 2009 | | 3:24 pm |
Mortal Kombat?
So, it looks like the hermit crab that got the largest also got the angriest and the hungriest and ate the other three. Oops. :( Current Mood: sadCurrent Music: KMFDM - People Of The Lie | | Friday, April 3rd, 2009 | | 2:40 pm |
I love how every article on AOL news (and most other news websites) that has a comments section will invariably have some (mostly) political comments within the first page, if not the first comment. Even articles on a weird worm found in an aquarium. I hate you all, idiot denizens of the internet. EDIT: Watch out, I'm being angry and ranty again! RAWR! New media: KMFDM - Blitz - As mentioned in a prior post, I loved pretty much every song on this album. It may not be top-tier material like, say, Nihil, WWIII, Attak, or Symbols, but it's definitely, overall, better than Hau Ruck and Tohuvabohu, which is a good omen, to say the least. I especially like "Never Say Never" and "Bitches." Skold vs. KMFDM - Not an absolutely amazing stand-alone CD, but certainly not bad. Well, as Rissy mentioned, the lyrics (from Skold in particular) are just simplistic and silly, but that's sort of how he has always been. Musically it's pretty cool, and I have to say that I was far more impressed with the full songs in comparison to the samples on their MySpace or the official site. It really puts a lot of parts in context and makes them sound cooler/less stupid. Creature Feature - The Greatest Show Unearthed - Ah, horror themed music is usually hilarious and awesome (like Murder Dolls), and this band is no different. The 40 minute CD is groovy and silly, and I highly recommend people checking them out. Dog Fashion Disco - Beating a Dead Horse, to Death...Again - I love DFD, and the follow-up band Polkadot Cadaver, a hell of a lot. This album was essentially a lot of left over demo material and unreleased stuff that I figured would be just ok at best. Honestly? I think it stands alone as a decent album, to say the least. Also, considering that most, if not all, of the material came from the last 5 years, as opposed to earlier, it's certainly from the more polished side of their career. GTA: Chinatown Wars - I didn't think a DS adaptation of the series could be this good. The game plays like a more advanced version of the GTA 1 and 2, but with a lot of new advancements to the series as a whole. Some of these come in the form of typical DS-gimmicks - using the the touchscreen/stylus to accomplish tasks - but they are tasks new to the series as opposed to things you did before just fine with a controller. I smashed some guy's engine with various tools and then put a dead fish in his AC intake, similar to Trauma Center. There are at least 3 different ways to hotwire a car, all of which have to be completed before the car alarm timer goes off, alerting the police. Genades and Molotovs use an aiming system similar to Kirby's Dream Course/Gears of War, where you can see the trajectory before you release them at your foes. Also new to the series is the drug trade. Various dealers from different gangs are all over the city, each with their own prices. Not only does each gang have certain drugs they will buy/sell for good prices, but different special will pop up via your PDA (A more advanced version of the phone in GTA4, which all sorts of neat things built into it), and let you know about the tip through an email. Sometimes you make $9500 off of a $25 investment of heroin, sometimes it's a bust and the LCPD tries to kill you. Either way, it's a ton of fun. So far I'm only a few actual missions into the game, but it really does look to be just as incredible as all the reviews were suggesting. In other news, Rissy and I just finished the 11 episodes of Heroes, season 2. Honestly? I really don't see what other people were complaining about. I thought everything was for the most part well-executed, and I certainly didn't see the apparently obvious 'this is where the writers went on strike' moment. Like...at all. So, if season 3 is even better than this, awesome. I'm not saying the series isn't without its faults, but I was really expecting a LOT worse given that I've heard nothing but absolute vitriol coming from everyone about season 2. The Ultra-Heavy Beat!
The new KMFDM album, Blitz, is up on the band's MySpace in its entirety for your listening pleasure. I preordered it (comes out next Tuesday) and so far I have to say I am quite satisfied. [Edit: "Bitches" is fucking hilarious, ha ha ha.] I also have the KMFDM vs. Skold CD coming in the mail with that, which I am also excited for. And GTA Chinatown Wars. Goddammit, why didn't I just go buy it on Tuesday? (answer: because that would have destroyed my productivity throughout the week) But damn if I don't want that. I'm regularly checking my Amazon order status, only to repeatedly see "You shipment has left the facility" for the last 6 days. In transit my ass, it should be here so I can be distracted from my work. :P Also, tonight you people in the area should come to this: It's FREE. Come hang out with us or something. Have you guys seen this? http://www.verizonmath.comGod DAMN people are beyond retarded. The audio recording of the phone call is almost 30 minutes, but filled with enough face-palming stupidity to make it entertaining and a horrifically sad way. Celldweller?
The name sound familiar, and I know they have been in a lot of movies and such, but not having my entire music collection on my computer, I'm have a devil of a pickle of a time remember specifically why they sound so familiar. Either way, Rissy is buying all their CDs off of CDBaby right now, since they are pretty much the culmination of my favorite types of music all in one. :D:D:D Current Mood: cheerfulCurrent Music: Celldweller - Switchback | | Tuesday, March 17th, 2009 | | 3:12 pm |
re: Cult of Static
This is yet more definitive proof that every Static X album is worse than the last. "But this one has a lot of guitar solos!" Yeah. I noticed. *sigh* I think it's time I finally give up on this band. edit: OH LOOK! Another guitar solo used in a lame attempt to spice up a monotonous, droning song! YAY!
